The white beet used in the production of the schnapps has helped the Wildschönau to gain the title gourmet region and thanks are also due to the farmers who continue the tradition as well as to the Empress Maria Theresia who granted the licence.

The white beet has been farmed in the valley for centuries and Maria Theresia gave the sole right to distil it to the farmers of the valley.

We are proud to be one of the original farmers who have the right to still distil this schnapps.

The highlight of the year is the Krautinger week which takes place in October and where the new schnapps is unveiled and the speciality enjoyed by guests from all over the world.
